Blizzard, in an effort to avoid controversy has banned gay marriage in its MMOG, citing violations as abuses of its "Sexual Harassment Policy" as it may incite people to harass.

Sounds like it is run by cowards, giving in to pressure before the pressure is presented.
Not a good sign war a warrior based society.

So they're banning something that may incite harassment instead of banning people who do the harassing? That's ridiculous.

Sexuality has nothing to do with fighting ability. That is the only thing that should matter in a warrior. Can she or he fight? If she or he can, then that person is what you want on your team. Who they go to bed with is not either a benefit or and draw back.

All I can say is "Good for them".

To be honest, who really cares about getting married on a MMOG anyway?

In an effort to avoid controversy, eh?
          I don't think it's going to work…

Seriously, though, it's reprehensible and ridiculous that they're citing this as a violation of their sexual harassment policy on the basis that it might incite harassment. That would be like if an openly gay person is assaulted, and is thereupon convicted of inciting violence. That would be like if the KKK is marching in a black neighbourhood, and the residents are accused of inciting a riot by being black. This attitude, that forces LGBT people to hide who they are, and makes violence against them seem like their fault, is simply disgusting.

Meanwhile, why exactly are people getting so concerned about who gets married in a virtual gaming environment? I can understand the real-life controversy, but in computer games? That's just silly.
